Colour, transparency and recycling

The packaging made of blown plastic, especially if we look at the bottles for the sectors of Cleaning, Cosmetics and those of the Chemical and Pharmaceutical sectors differ greatly in terms of the range of colours and transparency of the materials, two characteristics that have a significant impact on their taste and recyclability.

In a very summary way, it could be said that less color and more transparency allow for greater recycling possibilities while brighter colors and material surfaces increase the appeal of products.

In fact, for every form of packaging, the conflict between ethical-environmental and commercial needs tends to be resolved in more or less balanced compromises. White or very soft colors and absolute transparency have a great prevalence a little in all areas especially in the cleaning. It follows that to distinguish one can wield the weapons of black opaque, intense colors and hot metal prints.

Other issues are functional. If the objective is to protect against light or vice versa show the content, the choice will only be between absolute opacity and transparency.

Marketing and environmental sustainability are a good match. The new materials and recycling sorting technologies will more and more often end up in a level playing field, with great advantages for both sides.
